Homefix was established in 1993 by the 2 Low brothers, Low Cheong Kee (CK) and Low Cheong Yew (CY). From a humble beginning as a family-owned hardware shop in Siglap Centre to a local retail chain store with presence in Malaysia, Cambodia and Mongolia.
The brothers have the shared desire to promote DIY home improvement among customers through empowering them with knowledge of DIY.
Homefix also aims to move beyond being a mere retailer of DIY products, and towards becoming a fully-fledged lifestyle brand synonymous with a home-centric, home-loving and house-proud lifestyle.
With that goal in mind, Homefix also recognised the need for a deep-skilled retail workforce with future-ready skills to capitalise on emerging opportunities.
As the retail industry becomes more challenging with all the disruptions, Home-Fix continues to innovate and has started to embark on its Digital Retail Transformation journey.
The Learning & Development team has also embraced the use of digital technology to ensure that staff and partners stay relevant, and are able to acquire the knowledge needed in timely manner.
Homefix Singapore in partnership with BIIPME has put together a series of learning materials on a mobile learning app called SMILES - Social Micro-Learning and Engagement System.
The robust app is able to facilitate the dissemination of instructions, product knowledge, standard operating procedures etc. This helps to empower every staff from frontline to management level generating a one-standard messaging for all stakeholders and consumers.
The app also allows flexibility on learning progress of user, assessment of learners, as well as creation of learning materials.
It enables the user to start-pause-and continue its learning process depending on the users’ availability and comfortability.
The features include a library of articles, FAQs, How-Tos and other content provide the end-user a stable, standard and reliable source of information and instruction.
